The client is UPM Energy
(Finland’s second-largest electricity producer)
The requirements:
To design and install on-site a
power stabilizer system based on ultracapacitors.A system capable of providing a 30-second backup.
Support measures for system integration into the power plant grid.
Our solution:
The 3-MW plant consists of a
Multi-source inverter and 504 ultracapacitor modules housed in two 40-foot containers. Details in the download:

UPM Energy is a major producer of hydropower and reserve power. In order to participate in future reserve markets, hydropower capacity must be expanded, as the numerous small, rapid load changes associated with FCR-N exceed the control speed of the regular system. In addition, the mechanical wear of the system is then higher. In order to meet the requirements for the provision of these control reserves, it is necessary to integrate a short-term storage facility.
