The Ultracapacitor UGS (Ultracapacitor Grid Stabilizer) is an advanced energy storage system based on ultracapacitors, specifically designed for grid stabilization. With its state-of-the-art technology, the system responds to dynamic grid events within milliseconds, providing reliable compensation for grid disturbances—accurately and without delay.

The system is distinguished by exceptionally high current handling capacity and cycle durability. Its extremely fast response time of just 150 ms enables immediate power delivery, ensuring a stable electricity supply for up to 60 seconds. This is particularly valuable during the start-up phase of conventional generation units, such as turbines in hydropower plants.

Our UGS impresses not only with its high power density and fast charge and discharge times but also with an impressive service life of up to 1 million cycles.

Additionally, the efficient liquid cooling minimizes maintenance requirements and keeps operating costs low, while simultaneously reducing service needs to a minimum. This helps maintain low total operating costs over the long term and maximizes the system’s lifespan. With a combination of converter technology for voltage stabilization and double-layer capacitors for frequency regulation, this system delivers multiple benefits at once. Among other things, it enables a higher share of renewable energy in the grid without compromising grid stability. Even relatively slow-responding power plants, such as hydropower facilities, can be optimally integrated into the market.
